Bridge builders' projects

We strive to create tolerance, understanding and connection between people with opposing views, values or ways of life. We train children, youth and adults to be bridge builders.

We do this through various projects and activities across the country. The aim is not to agree, but to train tolerance for difference. On this page you can read about current and past projects.

We regularly share photos, videos and reports from the project activities on our social media channels. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn and get a peek into the engine room where we work with the bridge builders of the future.

Ongoing projects

Green Dialog Coffee

With the Green Dialogue Coffee project, we want to strengthen the dialogue about the green transition and counteract polarization in the green debate. Bridge Builders wants to reverse the trend from polarization towards more dialogue across disagreements. Do you want to join us?

The prejudice breakers

There are many prejudices and generalizations about people living in disadvantaged areas. Therefore, with this project we try to build a bridge between young people living in and outside disadvantaged neighborhoods. The aim is for them to be ambassadors for their local area and for building bridges. They are trained as prejudice breakers and help to prevent polarization and trench digging. Everyone can join in.

Bridge Builder Week

People are born open-minded and oprejudiced-free, but already in primary school, children question what they don't know. In order to create an understanding between population groups, it's crucial to start a dialog with and between children about what it means to be different already in school. Pupils are taught about racism, anti-semitism, prejudice, norms and tolerance. Would you like us to visit your school?

Storytelling Corps

We have trained a bridge-building corps consisting of a diverse group of people with different religions, ethnicities, sexualities and disabilities. The bridge builders share their own stories from their own point of view and the prejudices they have faced as Jewish, Muslim, disabled, gay, overweight, in care and more. Would you like them to visit your school, workplace or organization?

Democracy workshop

The Dialogue Workshop is a course for primary school teachers who want skills to strengthen dialogue and create space for conversation about difficult topics in the classroom. The aim is for teachers to look inward and become aware of their own prejudices, biases, generalizations and dialogical skills. After the course, teachers are equipped to use the Bridge Building Week teaching materials on their own, allowing for a week of teaching on tolerance, prejudice, norms, racism and LGBTQ rights.

Previous projects

Communities of disagreement

In collaboration with the Politiken Foundation, we invited leading opinion leaders in the fall of 2020 to rethink the way we discuss the debates that divide us. The aim was to develop a new method for creating communities of disagreement, focusing on what brings us together. The bridge-building principles created an inclusive and engaging audience where there was room for nuances and dilemmas.

The bridging program

The Bridge Builder program is a course lasting approximately four months. The educational part consists of course days where participants meet conflict mediators, rhetoricians and practitioners - all with deep expertise and new perspectives on democratic participation and dialog work.

Courses for organizations

Our Bridge Builder courses are tailored to different organizations such as associations, companies and municipalities that want to work with bridge building, increase tolerance for diversity and strengthen the courage to face disagreements with constructive and critical dialogue.
