Courses for associations,
companies, and municipalities

Our Bridge Builder courses are tailored to different organizations such as associations, companies and municipalities that want to work with bridge building, increase tolerance for diversity and strengthen the courage to face disagreements with constructive and critical dialogue.

We offer Bridge Building courses to all types of organizations whose employees navigate difficult conversations, disagreements, and perhaps conflicts—whether internally or externally. Our courses are based on personal responsibility and scope for action. The purpose of the courses is to make participants more aware of how bridge building and dialogue can be used as active tools to handle disagreements in everyday life, make room for greater diversity, and achieve sustainable results.

Do you know that feeling...?

Do you know that feeling when your colleague doesn't say hello in the hallway for the second day in a row and you think: "I wonder why he's mad at me?"

Have you been in a department where it is common to speak condescendingly or even disparagingly about people in another department?

Have you repeatedly experienced that a complaint from a customer or citizen leads to internal conflicts with angry email exchanges and organizational escalations as a result?

Then you are not alone. Disagreements and conflicts are part of everyday life in many places. Why? Because people are not the same; we prioritize different things, are influenced by different values—and this also applies in the workplace.

…Then we have something for you!

TheBridge Builders'coursesarefororganizationswherediversityis considereda fundamental conditionandwhere there is a sincere desiretostrengthenconstructive and critical dialoguebetweenpeople inside and outside the organization.

For those of you who want...

Inspiration for preventing, managing, and resolving conflicts
Tools for engaging in difficult conversations
Courage to tolerate people with opposing views
Insight into how language can close and open dialogue between disagreeing parties
Dialogic tools for creating greater diversity

…we can contribute with

The starting point for the course is that participants want to look inward and practice how they, as individuals, can use the tools. The teaching method will be a mixture of presentations, exercises, and reflection. During the course, participants will have ample opportunity to bring their own experiences and issues from their everyday lives into the teaching.

We do not offer to resolve specific conflicts or facilitate consensus where you disagree. We focus on personal responsibility—the difference each of us can make as a leader, employee, or volunteer in situations fraught with dilemmas.

The courses consist of modules. This means that the course can last from half a day to several days and will be based on your reality and the cases that fill your everyday life.

The course content is inspired by our nationwide Bridge Builder training program, but the scope and focus are tailored to the individual organization's needs. We always start by asking why it is important for you to improve in the areas where we can help.

Selected modules

How does one become a bridge builder?

What is bridge building, and how is it done in practice in organizations where, for example, power also plays an important role? Introduction to key tools for promoting good dialogue.

We talk about prejudices and preconceptions and delve into how to develop a bridge-building mindset.

Dialogue and conversation

What is dialogue, and how does it differ from other conversations we have in organizations? Who do we engage in dialogue with—or who can we engage in dialogue with?

We delve into dialogue and, through exercises and reflections on our own cases, examine how participants can use dialogical tools to strengthen the culture of dialogue within and outside the organization.

The art of navigating conflicts

What is conflict? What happens inside us when the level of conflict rises in our collaboration with colleagues or business partners? And how can we become better at navigating conflictual situations or relationships?

We introduce the two tracks of conflict and discuss its constructive potential. Participants reflect on their own roles and reaction patterns in their everyday lives.

Bridge-building language

How can language be used as a key rather than a hammer?

We examine how different approaches can either open or close conversations about difficult topics, and introduce participants to rhetorical tools they can use to build bridges within and outside the organization, as well as on social media.
